Zinc Plating

Zinc Plating

As experts in metal treatments, we offer affordable zinc plating. Zinc plating offers a high level of protection against corrosion and is widely applied to both steel and iron components, and in some cases, it can also be applied to brass and copper. This plating process is available in a range of finishes including clear, zinc and yellow passivate. It is ideal for providing corrosion protection for components in both industrial and domestic projects. To arrange a quote or discuss your needs, please get in touch.

Applications

Zinc coating is used to protect all kinds of steel and iron parts. It is a relatively cost-effective method compared to electroless nickel plated parts. Common items zinc electroplating is applied to include:

How long does it last?

This depends on the item it has been applied to, however, it can last up to 70 years.

De-Embrittlement Treatment

Our specialist team provide de-embrittlement services. This is an important process for certain components such as high tensile steels. The brittle nature of the zinc electroplating process can diffuse hydrogen gas into the parts which can cause failure or fracture of components when they are put to use. Therefore, it is important that these deposits are removed after the plating process to overcome this.

Components need to be de-embrittled in a specialist heat treatment oven after the zinc electroplating process to remove hydrogen gas in the electroplated surface of the item.
